You & Me

I used to be you. They snatched us and took us away from the land of our mothers. They raped and pillaged the minds of our brothers. They carried us like famished stocks of cattle and flocks of dehydrated and malnourished pheasant. But yet you forget. Why do you look at me that way like I chose to come here? Why must I walk around with my head down, drenched in guilt and shame. I was the one who was deprived of wearing my father’s birth name. I didn’t want to leave you, I had no choice. I didn’t speak the language, I had no voice. Stop veering at me with those eyes of hate. It has been so long but I will never forget the date. The time when I had my arms stretched screaming your name, asking you to come and save me. They held you back and closed their eyes, they did not want to see or even think of my demise. We floated in waters unknown. We heard creatures with unfamiliar tones. We departed from the only people we had known. We cried and screamed but no one was listening. No longer Kings and Queens, animals we would now be known. I didn’t want to leave you; that you must know. Instead of staring at me like I am some stranger, embrace me while we feel the wind blow. Tell me that you remember my eyes, they never changed. Even though my skin is lighter, don’t you still know my name? I am you and you are me. We are brother and sister, we are family. Look within, and remember that even know my DNA is a little different now, I am your kin. I carried a bow and you packed the arrows. You made the spear and I fetched the water. Don’t you remember me, I am your daughter. Our ancestors carry the same name; I know you before the history books made their fame. We would run through tall grass of green, we would lie down and seek the stars. I might have left you but look in your heart, I didn’t go far. I have always been with you and you with me. They could not change what has always been, we are blood, so One we will always be.
“African American” is now what they call me.

Felons Vote!

“Felons can vote this year.” I heard that statement on this Saturday. My questionable reaction was ‘What?!” and my feeling was dumbfounded. I speculated why I hadn’t heard of this and also I wondered what was so different this year than any other. My first planned course of action was to send out a world wide shout out to let everyone know of this; after some research of course.

Monday morning on my way to the j-o-b, I phoned a family member who lives in CA and has been convicted of a felony in his past. Fortunately, he has not allowed that label hinder him. He is a profound business man and it making good for himself and his family. I asked, “Have you heard that felons could vote?” He chuckled and stated, “I have been voting all of my adult life.” I was so surprised. He stated that there was no question on the voter registration card that asked if you have even been convicted of a felony. Immediately, I began to wonder why everyone thought and believed this horrendous myth. I wonder why we just “went along with the flow” and didn’t research or ask questions.

Now as I sit here informing everyone who was guided to this writing somehow, the statement, “Ignorance is bliss comes.” I say that because us not knowing this has hurt us so badly but it has blessed others, if you catch my drift. We have been walking around ignorant to the fact that as a people we have much more power than we allow ourselves to have. We have been the source of demise, just by carrying out the lie. I stand accused in this continued unawareness. As I speak I am internally forgiving myself for not knowing. I am forgiving myself for wondering why but not digging for the answers to my questions.

I am now wiping my slate clean by informing the masses of people who are like me in this moment. I command you to do this research for yourself and alert everyone that you know to do the same. If you just do not have the tenacity to do so, at least spread the word that in some states, FELONS CAN VOTE, this year and every year after that! Let us not wonder why this genocidal fairy tale was carried out, we should all know the why. Let us work on the how. Let us focus on the what. Let us be the who. Together we can take a stand with the newfound knowledge that we have and we can make a difference. One person cannot change the world but together we can mold this puppy into what we want it to be. Let’s do this man!

Depending on the state you live in, if you have had your voter right taken away due to a felony conviction or for any other reason, you can request to have your voter right restored. Certain states like Nevada have already restored felon’s right to vote. Go to your states government page and search for the election page or even more specific: voter right restoration. Don’t give up, look until you find the information you need and then pass the knowledge!

Diving within...

Deep Within

"Today I must dive deep withinAnd know what I comeTo this earth-stage for."
Sri Chinmoy

What are we doing here? Why wasn't our purpose laid out in plain sight? That is for Spirit to know and for you to find out so you will also know. Our mission in this time space reality is to find out who we are but we find ourselves wondering and pondering the mystery of all of this. We find ourselves allowing ourselves to become lost in the illusions. At times, our senses lead us when we should be connected 24/7 in Divine Spirit. When we find ourselves in this position, what comes next? What do we do? Let's go back, give your Spirit consent to go back to where you first began. Close your eyes, follow your breath and feel within. Feel deep within your soul and connect with your inner Queen. Then and only then will you hear and feel what you have come to this earth stage for. Who says that you cannot begin again?

Namaste,

Freedom...Priceless?

Freedom is priceless, isn’t it?
I read a quote the other day that stated that “freedom was priceless.” I thought to myself and I figured out that based on our society’s current mindset, that statement could be agreed with and debated at the same time.

Freedom has been defined as, a state in which somebody is able to act and live as he or she chooses, without being subject to any undue restraints or restrictions. By measuring your current situation to this definition, are you experiencing freedom, and if so, at what cost did you obtain this freedom?
It has been said that the state of being free can not be summed to equal a certain monetary value. Feeling free is a glorious feeling but is that same freedom actually priceless? I am sure we have all heard of people paying a deep pocketed price for freedom. People have died and been tried for freedom.

The dictionary defines priceless as something that is impossible to put value on or worth more than can be calculated in terms of money. How can freedom be priceless when we function with the perceived notion that we must pay for it? Mental, emotional, physical and even spiritual freedom seem like they come with a price tag in most situations. I have witnessed people pay a pretty penny for physical freedom. Some people live under the assumption that they must pay for spiritual freedom or they will suffer in the afterlife. Counselors charge by the hour for what some think is a process of gaining mental and psychological freedom. The divorce rate is fifty percent and the course of action is not free either, emotionally freedom is sought at a cost. We continue to seek outside of ourselves to buy our misguided conception of freedom at any expenditure.

Some of us are hostages of our egotistical minds. We envy the people whom have more than us because we think they exist with more opportunities to obtain freedom than we do. Often we validate ourselves according to what we have. We measure ourselves by our assets or lack there of. We calculate our happiness according to what we have done in our careers, our schooling and etc. We think that we are not complete if we do not have a mate and we settle for less than what we deserve. Is that freedom?

To some of us even happiness comes at an expense. Do you ever find yourself saying these statements? I will be happy when…or if I had this…I would be ok. We are not satisfied until we have a particular type of an automobile or a certain sized house. I am not stating that obtaining these things is wrong but what is stopping us from being joyous right now? When you think about that, ask yourself if you primarily find happiness in tangible objects or even in other people. We expect people to love us unconditionally but we are so conditional when it comes to loving ourselves. Why does something have to occur for us to be pleased? Why don’t we live in the moment? Why are things so important to us? Do we forget that our Creator just wants us to be happy? Do we put man’s opinions before God’s?

How can we free ourselves from the emotional and egotistical bondage of your minds? Let’s expand the way we think about ourselves and our situations. Let us begin by opening our minds and our hearts to the priceless thoughts and admiration of the Universe. Let’s measure ourselves by the breath that we breathe and the love that we give. Can we remind ourselves that we were made in the image of the Divine and therefore we are a value that is beyond price? Let’s come into contact with the Spiritual us who is perfect, loving, beautiful and magnificent. Let’s grace ourselves with positive and uplifting affirmations. Let us reach within and discover our truest passions. Let us discern the intangible things that add unto our happiness, i.e., the sunrise, the wind blowing on our faces, birds singing, the moonlight, a beautiful skyline, laughter and etc. Let’s free our souls from comparing ourselves to the illusions of the world. Begin with believing and knowing that we create our own reality and therefore we can take control of our destiny. Let’s take responsibility for our delights and make ourselves a priority. Let us stop functioning in the mindset of an ego-led society and unlock the doors of our Spirits! Together we can enjoy the splendors of the Universe! Our discoveries will indeed be invaluable and we will experience a freedom that is indeed priceless.

Embrace this Truth and remind yourself that:
“My Lord does not want to know what I have done for Him. He just wants to know how I am. If he hears from me that I am happy, then he himself becomes exceedingly happy. In unmistakable terms He tells me that my happiness is His real and only Satisfaction.”

Perception

I see the greatness within you
There may be such things that others don’t see
But it is so visual to myself because for everything that is within you is within me
My eyes look beyond perceiving you physically
I have been given the gift to look into your soul and that is the truth that means the most to me
Would you like to see what I see?
Close your eyes, open your heart and it is me that you will be sure to be
